Many Western countries have faced harsh criticism for their lack of commitment to the climate issue. In several countries, there is even evidence that both the state and the business sector have actively opposed necessary climate measures. However, a number of Asian countries have chosen a different strategy. Instead of resisting climate action, they have embraced it, encouraged inventors, entrepreneurs, and companies to develop new, climate-smart technology.

This means that Asia will, in all likelihood, enjoy significant economic advantages as the world is now compelled to take rapid climate action. Even the most stubborn climate skeptics are beginning to realize that something must be done to reduce negative climate impacts. The problem is that they are extremely late to the table. Several economists in the US, the EU, and Australia now argue that this will have major economic consequences.
